Day 4 - Part 2 (What we actually did on Day 4)

Thank you to those who are reading it and sending us comments. I also notice we have one official follower. Thanks Mum.

Part 1 of today turned into me adding things I'd forgotten about yesterday, so I made it its own post. Now I'll try to actually focus on what we did today. It could be hard as the Chinese drums are still going outside. Atmosphere.
But I didn't promise I'd be chronological. So first, here are some pictures of our hotel, the Yeng Keng. It is a Chinese mansion that was recently refurbished.
(An in-joke for the 'pilchards', Matt has variously asked me if it's called the Hang Seng... the Yong Dong... It reminded me of Andrea getting lost looking for the Yong Pa Bong / Donkey Kong temple.)

Back to chronology, we took the bus from KL to Penang. It's about 5 hours, and Gan recommended it as the buses are quite luxurious, you get to see the countryside, and it is more convenient than getting out to the airport. Good tip Gunny.

Here's a picture of the bus and a picture of me on the bus soon after I woke up from a snooze.

The bus really was more luxurious than AirAsia, with bigger and comfier seats. Although the 'light meal' was free, it was the world's lightest Subway 6-inch. There were only four people on the top deck, so we could have taken a large car instead of a double-decker bus.

Here's Matt at a fruit stall on a rest stop.

There is a 13-km bridge from the mainland to Pulau Pinang. Matt likes bridges.

Once in Penang, we had a nana nap then headed up to Batu Feringhi which is along the north of the island. Martin, one of the hosts at the hotel, had given us good instructions about the bus, but then offered us a lift since he was going home that way anyway. It was about 45 minutes. Thanks Martin!
Favourite billboard along the way - Sheep Placenta Extract anyone? Anyone?
We'll put the Batu Ferringhi night markets into the next post as it's easier with the pictures.
