Day 4 - Part 3 (Night markets at Batu Ferringhi)

Our first trip out in Penang was to the bazar at Batu Ferringhi. On the way there, Martin (from the hotel, who had offered to drive us there) showed us some places that had been affected by the tsunami where new replacement buildings had gone up.
The beach looked ok but nothing particularly flash. It smelt a bit, but that may have just been where we were.
We had dinner at Long Beach (another recommendation from Martin), which seemed to be one restaurant but operated like a food court with stalls all around offering different cuisines, including Malaysian, Chinese, North and South Indian, and the 'sizzling plate' stall which was a must for Matt once he saw someone else's sizzling plate go by.
We both had prawns; mine were Malaysian-style with fried rice and very tasty, but not as spectacular as Matt's. This also meant the mess on my shirt was less spectacular (but still a mess).
They also had Tiger beer.
The markets had some very nice things, and with about 3 ringgit to the dollar, it's all pretty cheap.
We bought some souvenirs (obviously we love our families and didn't just get them the cheap stuff...) and pretty soon had our hands full with goodies and got a taxi home.
Might be time to investigate the cost of posting things home :)
